This domain is where a young child learns she has value, and that he or she can learn and be a good friend. I place high priority on nurturing three skills: self-efficacy, self-regulation, and prosocial ability.
Self-Efficacy: In short, self-efficacy is the skill that allows a child to look at problem or new situation and say, "I CAN do this!" Nurturing self-efficacy in early childhood creates a strong foundation for future progress in every area.
Self-Regulation: This is also known as self-control. If you feel like your child struggles with this, then you are like most parents of young children! I believe in meeting children where they are, and helping them feel positive about their ability to control their actions.
Pro-social Skills: Here, we learn to be a good friend. Young children often have a difficult time understanding the thoughts of others, so creating those realizations and fostering empathy is a primary goal.
